I'm ACCA qualified with 23 years' experience across both practice and industry, and TG Accounts & Advisory is my practice — offering accountancy and advisory services to owner-managed businesses, sole traders and landlords. No layers, no hand-offs — when you work with TG, you work with me.
I'm an ACCA-qualified accountant with 23 years' experience, split between practice and industry — and it's that mix that shapes how TG works.
I started, like most accountants, in practice: preparing accounts, filing tax returns, and learning the technical discipline that everything else is built on. But partway through my career I moved to the other side of the desk, into industry, running a finance team inside a business rather than advising one from outside. I dealt with the same things my clients deal with now — the month-end scramble, the cash flow pressure, explaining the numbers to a board or a bank manager who wanted answers yesterday, and managing a team while still being accountable for the figures myself.
That experience changed how I practise. I'm not just filing your accounts and sending an invoice once a year — I've done your job, or something close to it, and I know what the numbers actually feel like from inside a business, not just on paper. It's why I think of myself as a business partner rather than a compliance function: someone who's sat where you're sitting, not just someone who's seen a lot of spreadsheets.
TG Accounts & Advisory exists because I wanted to bring that combination — proper technical grounding from practice, and real operational experience from industry — to businesses that are too often offered one or the other.
The name itself is a personal one: TG comes from my two children's initials. This practice is something I've built for the long term, and it felt right to have their names attached to it from day one.
I think a lot of accountancy has got less personal as firms lean harder on new tools. My approach is the other way round: I use efficient systems to keep the routine work off my desk, so the time that frees up goes on the parts that were always meant to be personal — a conversation about your accounts, your tax position, your next decision.
Every query, every filing and every piece of advice comes from me. I know your business because I'm the one who's been looking at it.
Running a finance team in industry means I've felt the same cash flow pressure and month-end scramble you deal with. That's a different kind of advice to what you get from someone who's only ever worked from outside.
My number and inbox go straight to me. If something's urgent, you won't be waiting on a rota to find out who's covering your account.
